Proper foot care is important, yet it is easy to forget that your feet bear the brunt of most of the activities that you perform while standing upright. Over time, ignoring your feet can lead to serious problems such as chronic pain that limits your ability to enjoy your normal activities.
While it is common to seek treatment for foot pain after an injury, it is also important to keep in mind that a visit to the podiatrist for routine foot care yields many benefits for your overall well-being.
Certain health conditions place you at greater risk for serious foot problems. For example, diabetes can lead to dangerous infections and nerve damage that require aggressive treatment if they to fester. For this reason, diabetic wound care is critical for protecting your mobility.
Arthritis also strikes the ankle and foot joints. Since this condition is progressive, receiving proper care early on helps you identify the best strategies for managing pain and easing joint stiffness, such as gentle stretches.
The frequency of examinations will be based on the patient’s foot and ankle condition along with comorbidities.
The skin on your feet is highly susceptible to several common infections because the dark and damp environment created by your shoes allows bacteria, fungus, yeast, and viruses to flourish. With a foot infection, you may notice things such as redness around your toes, or you may see small warts on the bottom of your soles. If you have a fungal infection, then you may also notice itchiness or a foul odor. All these conditions can be treated during your routine foot care appointments.
We understand the challenges that facilities face in delivering podiatric care. Reach out to us via our New Facility online form to explore preventative mobile podiatry solutions for your facility. Our goal is to provide you with a solution that meets the needs of your entire facility.
We view our relationship with your facility as a partnership that provides access to preventative mobile podiatry care services. We appreciate your advocacy and coordination in making these services available in your facility; however, we do not ask facilities to bear the financial burden of facilitating the delivery of our services.
Most facilities do not contract with Bigfoot Podiatry under a fee for service model. Rather, Bigfoot Podiatry works directly with patients, families, and POAs to enroll patients into preventative care with Bigfoot Podiatry. Facilities typically retain or contract Bigfoot Podiatry at no cost as an authorized on-site provider. Payment for care is the responsibility of the patient, the patient’s insurance provider, and the patient’s family or POA.
For patients who do not have insurance coverage payment is due at the time of service.
As a mobile operation we meet our patients at the facilities that we serve! An initial appointment consists of a foot and ankle examination. Based on our evaluation we provide the patient with preventative care treatment options.
If possible, please assist us by providing the following information at the time of the consultation:
- Any x-rays taken by previous podiatrist, if applicable.
- A list of medications you are presently taking
- If you have insurance, bring the necessary completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help with processing any claims
IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. For adults that require a Power of Attorney (POA), we require the consent of the POA via our enrollment form. Please alert your podiatrist if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to treatment (i.e., diabetes, neuropathy, arthritis and atrial fibrillation, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication (i.e., heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.).
X-rays
If your podiatric physician has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to Bigfoot Podiatry. Please note that Bigfoot Podiatry is not able to provide x-rays; however, providing Bigfoot Podiatry with previous x-rays does help with comprehensive care.

We think that families and facilities should understand fees before we provide care. That is why we offer flat rate billing. We work with the facility to establish one rate that works for all the residents. Rates do vary slightly based on the type of facility, the number of residents enrolled in the program, and the location of the facility. Simply we will provide you with a very straight-forward proposal. Payment is due at the time of service.
We perform a podiatric evaluation to assess the preventative foot care needs of the facility’s residents.
