What is a tendon tear?

A tendon is a band of tissue made up of many fibers which connects muscle to bone. A foot tendon tear happens when one of the tendons in the foot is damaged from overuse or sudden injury. A tear in a tendon can range from a small partial tear to a complete rupture. A foot tendon tear can be painful and make it hard to do any activities that require you to put weight on your foot. The most common tendons in the foot that can be torn include: Achilles Tendon, Tibialis Posterior Tendon, Flexor Tendons, & Extensor Tendons

What are signs and symptoms of a tendon tear?

  • Swelling and bruising around the affected area
