Soft tissue mass

What is a soft tissue mass?

Soft tissue masses also referred to as tumors or cyst expand under the skin and push outward generally producing a visible bump. Soft tissue masses are generally benign and non-cancerous. Though in the case of larger cysts or tumors, it might be indicative of a more serious medical condition. Excision of soft tissue masses is a medical procedure to remove growths that develop under the skin. A foot soft tissue mass may need to be excised if it is causing pain or discomfort, if it interferes with foot movement or function, if it is growing in size, if there is concern about the possibility of cancer, or if it causes cosmetic concerns. Some common types of soft tissue masses include: Lipomas, Ganglion cysts, Fibromas, Neuromas, and malignant tumors
